Updates February-April 2014
Computers/Technology Class From Month of February 2014 were mostly dedicated to enhancing student's Math skills through their participation in Sumdog and STMath. We returned back to our curriculum in mid-March. Students worked on Restaurant brochures and Magazine Covers. During this time, students were introduced briefly to MS Publisher 2010. The restaurant brochures were implemented either in MS Word or Publisher 2010 by the 7th grade classes. The 6th, 7th and 8th grade class has an opportunity to use MS Publisher for their fake magazine Covers.

Month of April 2014. Last week, students were involved in the 5-essentials Survey where their voices are made known. A Number of students had an opportunity to watch a 5 part video on using Adobe Photoshop for digital painting. Most finished the 1st two videos and continued practicing typing.
5th graders spend about 15 minutes practicing typing at the beginning of class. Last week, the April 3rd and April 4th, 5th graders were encouraged to upload their picture from google drive and edit their picture in Photoshop adding their background of choice before they update their Edmodo profile picture. How to Create a Fake Magazine Cover1. First, decide what kind of magazine cover you want to create. It could be an art magazine, a computer magazine, a fashion magazine, a pet magazine, a movie review magazine, a Crafts magazine, a gaming magazine, a people magazine, and etc. Decide who or what you want to have on the cover. It could be a picture of yourself, or someone, or something. The subject matter determines the theme and the look and feel of your cover.
2. Next, You search for pictures of the person, or the subject matter. 3. You can look at sample magazine covers to get an idea of how and where you want to put the title and the text regarding the articles that would be found in your magazine. Alternately, to get a quick start, you can look up magazine cover templates that get you started right away. This will allow you to see very quickly what your magazine would look like. like, you 4. You do need to edit the date to reflect the current date. If you find a template you can take it into Photoshop and change the date, and other features in the template.
